Ashley Thorpe’s fourth Penny Dreadful animation, The Hairy Hands, which is based on the Devon legend, is due to have the script and budget signed off by South West Screen on June 15, but there is still concern that the name may alienate audiences outside the Devon region.
The Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, which is on in Manhattan, New York, tonight and tomorrow (Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6), has selected Ashley Thorpe’s Scayrecrow and The Screaming Skull in a back-to-back screening in its film room.
“British horror revival begins here in the South West,” said Ashley Thorpe as he picked up the media innovations award for independent film, and he should know -he’s picking up awards, and plaudits, and favourable reviews wherever he goes.
The award nominated Scayrecrow by Ashley Thorpe is among the three films he’s offering for download from his Carrion Films site from tomorrow (March 4). The others film are the Screaming Skull and the earlier The Vampire.
Filmmaker and horror aficionado Ashley Thorpe describes another of his top five horror picks. Today, The Exorcist.
