Renown filmmaker Ashley Thorpe is to embark on a short film while his feature Spring Heel Jack is in pre-production
Exeter filmmaker Ashley Thorpe is featured in the highbrow horror magazine Rue Morgue. Ashley talks about his Penny Dreadful film series, the latest of which is Dartmoor legend-based The Hairy Hands
Ashley Thorpe’s fourth Penny Dreadful animation, The Hairy Hands, which is based on the Devon legend, is due to have the script and budget signed off by South West Screen on June 15, but there is still concern that the name may alienate audiences outside the Devon region.
The Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, which is on in Manhattan, New York, tonight and tomorrow (Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6), has selected Ashley Thorpe’s Scayrecrow and The Screaming Skull in a back-to-back screening in its film room.
Ashley Thorpe’s Scayrecrow is making a continental journey with a visit to Cannes’ Short Film Corner in this year’s Festival de Cannes.
