Mark Norman, of the Folklore Project, and Tracey Norman are editors of Folklore and the Media, a University of Exeter Press-published series of books on folklore and the media. And they are after some insightful writers.

“If you are the right person to write about folklore in the Tim Burton films, MCU, Grimm, Jim Henson or any number of other IPs you might like, please get in touch for details,” said Mark.

Here’s some blurb: “From the nostalgia of children’s television and animated sitcoms, to the digital folklore of viral internet mysteries and the deliberate storytelling architecture of theme parks, this series uncovers the hidden folkloric foundations of modern entertainment.”

And if you’re after any inspiration – or just fancy a crackin’ read – take a look at Mark’s book Zoinks! The spooky folklore behind Scooby Doo, which explores the how the story writers for Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and their dog (dawg?!) Scooby have drawn on myths and legends to create the slew of villains in the series.
