Ladron | Cornish language comedic neo-noir
Two fishermen, one femme fatale and a huge after-heist loot to share: what could go wrong? Ladron (Thieves) is a Cornish language comedic neo-noir drama short film that centres around three friends with competing ideologies.
Magda has a strong moral compass, Ruan is a dangerous and cunning criminal, determined to escape Cornwall, while Dale is a trusting fool, who loves his friends and his home and can’t imagine a life elsewhere. The cases of cash drive a wedge between them and force a dormant schism in their outlooks to the surface. It is a story about cultural identity, pride, resilience and the importance of trust in friendship.
Ladron has been selected by Screen Cornwall for the FylmK 2025 Commission Fund, and now has a crowdfunder to support the Cornish noir to get made.
Backers can receive exclusive rewards including nutrition, music production and audition sessions, tickets to the film premiere, 1:1 sessions with the writer, behind-the-scenes access, special producer credits, and many more!
The amount raised will enable to cover the cast and crew fees, to fund legal and music costs, and to pay for locations permissions and the hire of equipment, among other production expenses.
Ladron (Thieves) is written by Falmouth local Jake J Mackintosh (Dog Years, Foresight), directed by Indra Siera (War of the Worlds, Professor T, Attraction, Old Belgium), and produced by Liane Escorza (The Virtues, Small Axe, Rivals).
