“We knew it would be a micro short, but we treated it with the utmost respect it rightly deserves,” director Aaron R Dorey (known as ‘Az’ to everyone on set), tells D&CFilm. “I firmly believe it stands on its own merit and has a style and charm that will intrigue and captivate audiences.”

The story follows Mimi, who walks away from the world of crime, but it’s not long until the head of the organization and the aristocrats plan her assassination. Will they be successful? Or will she burn them all to the ground?

Director Aaron has been working his way up through the film industry, starting as a supporting artist on big productions, such as Doc Martin, Poldark, Beyond Paradise. And he’s had three years at the Acting Academy. Behind the scenes, he’s picked up experience crewing on indie productions, such as Immortium, and he’s dipped his toe into the water of directing and writing with The Orange Coloured Banana.

That experience has been poured into Everything Else Productions, a new production company with his father.

“Our aim is to stand out from the crowd and tell stories in new and original ways,” says Aaron. “So far we have collaborated with some fantastic filmmakers from all different backgrounds often offering onset training to help budding filmmakers start their own journeys.

“As well as creating our own narratives, we have been actively seeking clients who may benefit from fresh and original ideas when approaching a brief.”

They are currently working on four short stories, getting them ready for the festival circuit.
