When Emberlense was started in 2012, one of its aims was to bring together creative talent from across the South West. Since then there have been four major short films, numerous shorts, sold-out screenings and press articles across the world.
Emberlense director John Tomkins has always had a strong creative drive for promoting the local area as a film location, film in Devon and film makers of the future.
In between some creative projects in development John started working on the latest collaborative creative project called Change is Going to Happen.
Change is Going to Happen is a single and creative short music video film. While writing the song (plus putting a rough demo together) John put a call out for some lead vocalist. From this three very talented lead vocalists joined the project -Alfie, Libby and Charlotte (who are all studying a Diploma in Music Performance at Exeter College).
Also joining the vocal team is rap artist S.A.F. who has been in many Emberlense films. S.A.F. not only performed but she also wrote the rap part of the song.
Phase one of the project is nearly complete. With the vocal recording on the song taking place at the Sound Gallery Studios in Exeter in mid-December (with a special thanks to Grice, Maria and Duncan from the Sound Gallery). The final mix is happening during December 2016.
2017 is when things get exciting, with the project moving into Phase two. Some of the team from previous creative short will be bought together to shoot a video in Torbay in mid- to late-January 2017. Great locations will be combined with some great dance sequences to accompany the singers in the video. It promises to be a very exciting video film, with plenty of local press support.
This is still time to join this project. The Embelense / Change is Going to Happen production team is looking for 16 dancers (please see details below*) of all ages to be in the film.
The dance is a mix between contemporary and street dance. Rehearsals are to take place in early January in Torbay and filming will be in mid- to late-January 2017. The video and single will be online in early 2017.
To keep up to date with the film you can follow the project on Twitter @changesgoing and https://www.facebook.com/changeisgoingtohappen/. Below you can watch the the first video vlog of the project, which was recording the vocals for the song at Sound Gallery Studios in Exeter in mid-December.
Emberlense has more exciting creative projects in the pipeline in 2017, which you can view past creative films on the official website.

Dancers must preferably be over 18 (min age 16) (16 /17 year olds must have a release form to be in the video signed by a parent or guardian to take part in the video). Change is Going to Happen is a non-profit creative project, supported by a great team of industry volunteers, aiming to to promote creative talent in Devon, locally and internationally.
