Successful Devon-based filmmakers casting call for next sci-fi feature
The team behind the highly successful Robot World, Rendered Pictures, are looking for cast for their next feature, Project 3. [Now Closed]
Robot World has been compared to the work of Neil Blomkamp and bagged an international distribution deal, so we’re excited about the prospect the the team’s new feature.
Project 3 is a sci fi horror feature-length film. They are aiming to once again film locally across Dartmoor/Devon and are on the look out for local actors.
The story is set in a small rural village in Devon which is quarantined by an Alien presence. Local police officers Zoe and Patrick struggle through the night to take control as they become cut off from the outside world. Villagers begin to behave strangely and mass suicide panic spreads. With the help of others Zoe and Patrick begin unravelling the mystery and soon discover it is not as it all seems. Can Zoe and Patrick save the village from a gruesome death?
Here’s the character bio:
Zoe, Female aged between 30-40. (To note: possibility of the character being Canadian. Please highlight on your application if this accent is in your scope/range). But do not worry if not.
Zoe is a strong lead character. Zoe is a police officer stationed in a rural policing area with approximately 10 years service. Zoe’s background is city policing and is new to the rural area and attitudes. She is senior in service and is respected by her colleagues as a competent officer.
During the film Zoe will struggle with trying to keep control and to save everyone ultimately to discover by trying to help she is doing more harm.
• Mentality – Strong minded won’t accept help, wants to get home, tries to help everyone.
• Costume – Police patrol uniform
• Background – Cop juggling family life and work life
• Fear – losing control or not being able to help
• Intention – Wants to get home
This film is being produced by husband and wife team Neil and Amanda Rowe.
Neil began his career as a 3D Animator and worked as a ‘lead technical artist’ for over 13 years before moving into visual effects and filmmaking.
Amanda has a background in the arts and studied fine art at Exeter College and university of Wales Institute of Cardiff (as it was known back then).
Their first feature film entitled Robot World has been released on DVD and online in UK, USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea and soon to be available in Germany and China.
Robot World won awards at various film festivals in the UK and USA during 2015 namely Best feature film at Unreal film festival Memphis USA, best feature effects at Other worlds film festival, Boston USA and best director at Hyperdrive film festival, Sussex.
They also have an agent in place who is working with them on this project to ensure they achieve greater success.
They told D&CFilm ‘a lot has been learnt since Robot World in all aspects of production and so we aim to make ‘Project 3’ a bigger and more successful film.
‘Our aim is to secure a limited cinema release and DVD/VOD release around the world. The film will also be entered into numerous top tier film festivals.’
