The opening night of Chagford Film Festival will be celebrated by a showing of the new Ab Fab movie, with Jennifer Saunders introducing the film and fielding a Q&A session afterwards.
The film is bringing the delightfully irresponsible comedy duo Patsy and Edina back to our screens after 24 years and is sure to be a big hit at the festival.
Chagford Film Festival is one of the quirkiest and very best film festivals in the UK and brings the glamour of Hollywood to Dartmoor when the town buzzes with style and excitement.
The festival offers a mix of films, brilliant events and workshops, presented by top industry professionals.
Running throughout the week is the theme of Las Vegas comes to Chagford. There will be films with a Vegas theme, a Las Vegas Show Night with Elvis and Frank Sinatra, a best Elvis competition, a casino, and even an Elvis wedding chapel. The week will finish in spectacular style with a grand finale musical street parade on Saturday October 01.
The festival is presenting an animation day on Tuesday 27 September with special guests Aardman Animations, including hands-on model-making workshops with one of Aardman’s talented model-makers, lunch, and films in the evening followed by a Q&A. David Sproxton, one of the original founders of Aardman Animations, will be appearing at a ‘Lunch With’ event. David will have lots of stories to tell, as together with Peter Lord he created Morph and he worked on all the major Aardman features.
Master Chef of Great Britain chocolatier Grant Mather will be doing a chocolate making afternoon as part of the festival’s food-themed day on Thursday 29 September. Sol Cinema, the country’s smallest solar-powered cinema is back by popular demand for 2 days. The detailed festival programme is still being finalised so please check the website for updates.
