Plymouth Arts Centre is looking to bring its cinema alive with the provision of a live satellite link to live performances.
But to get the Plymouth Arts Centre live performance ready they need new kit -satellite dish and decoder, for example -and they need that kit installed. Hence the crowdfunder.
This is what they say:
We’ve been showing films in our cinema at Plymouth Arts Centre for many years now and we would like to be able to bring live theatre, opera, ballet, and footage from exhibitions, to our cinema for people to enjoy here in Plymouth.
Our aim is for people to be able to watch productions like Hamlet live on stage in Stratford from the Royal Shakespeare Company, or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi, or a private view of exhibitions such as the David Bowie Exhibition at the V&A in London -all without the expense and hassle.
With live streaming it’s almost as if you are actually at the event, especially if you have a glass of wine during the interval -or at Plymouth Arts Centre, you can enjoy a drink during the film as well!
Pledges start at £10, for which you’ll get a ticket to live event and your name on the big screen.
And they go up to £500, which will land you ’16 tickets for the VIP Launch of Live Cinema at Plymouth Arts Centre or 16 tickets for a screening of your choice with a VIP Pack (includes tickets, pre-event and interval drinks and snack) and your name on the screen acknowledging you as a donor’.
There are also opportunities to pledge £20, £50, and £100, each with their own reward…. along with the reward of helping an arts charity achieve its live screening dream, of course.
“As a charity, money is always tight, and we really need your help with this so that more people, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, will get to experience these great shows,” they say.
“And, we will be able to bring new audiences to Plymouth Arts Centre, making our small cinema more sustainable.”
Pop along to the Plymouth Arts Centre Live to see what’s on offer, how far they’ve reached, and to donate.
