HER(E). Made by Her. Here is a pop-up cinema event celebrating female directorial talent from Devon and Cornwall, taking place in Exeter.
It’s organised by students at Exeter University, and in the call out for films one of the organisers Haidi Leung explained why they were focusing on female directors.
‘Our group consists of five females from across the globe so straight away we knew we wanted to do something focusing on female achievements,’ she said. ‘Female influences and involvement in the film industry is also a very topical subject.’
The organisers have had fantastic submissions from female filmmakers, and are now down to selecting the films to make the final programme, ‘a tough decision with all the talent we’ve received’, they say.
The time for the pop-up event was allocated randomly, and HER(E). Made by Her bagged the unfortunately early slot of 9.30am-11am on Tuesday, December 8. But it is set in the wonderful Bill Douglas Museum, and a Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screening.
Check out the expanding HER(E). Made by Her website for more information about the event and the filmmakers, as well as the where, when, what, how below.
