DiSPLACEMENT is a beguiling collaboration between director Brett Harvey and choreographer Emily Dobson.
The film is a technical feat for both filmmaker and dancer.
Filmed in 52 different locations throughout Devon and Cornwall. The scenes range from beaches to shopping centres, to car parks to cliff tops
‘Using stylised editing and film techniques the film is designed to expose a relationship to place through time, whether through choice, co-incidence or chance, a reaction to questioning where ‘home’ truly is,’ says the blurb.
The music was by Wayne Chudley.
The film has been screened regularly on the Big Screen in Plymouth City centre DiSPLACEMENT has also been screened at; The Cornwall Film Festival, Dance Bytes, In The Flesh (The Barbican Theatre, Plymouth), The Busho Film Festival (Budapest), ArtKino Film Festival (Moscow) and subsequently toured to cities across Russia during 2010.
And it’s well worth a regular re-watch.
