Dartmoor Killing has cemented plans for its innovative hybrid distribution model by signing a Home Entertainment deal with distributor Soda Pictures.
The new psychological thriller directed by BAFTA-winner Peter Nicholson has also expanded its direct theatrical release with new sites added from the Merlin and Scott Cinema chains and the addition of flagship Bristol independent, Watershed.
Peter told D&CFilm: ‘Since developing the film with the support of the ICO and Film London’s ‘Build Your Audience’ programme we have believed in a hybrid mix of direct distribution and traditional partners for a film of this scale.
“The Soda deal is a perfect fit for us and we will be working closely together to maximize the momentum of the theatrical campaign as the film moves into its Home Ents release.’
The respected Anglo-Canadian distributor will release the film on DVD and VOD platforms in the autumn following the film’s theatrical release in September.
Frances Harvey acquisitions manager at Soda said: “We were first introduced to Dartmoor Killing at Film London’s Micro Market and are thrilled to be working with the team on the DVD and digital release of the film.’
The film, starring Gemma-Leah Devereux, Rebecca Night, Callum Blue and David Hayman, has also been selected for the Breakthrough Strand of The London Screenings at the BFI, June 22/25 2015.
The film’s executive producers include Penny Wolf, Luke Randolph and Gina Fucci. It was produced by Bristol based Jayne Chard and shot on the Devon moor last summer.
The film will have its UK Premiere at an open-air screening on Dartmoor in September.
