Beautiful and inspiring, Dartmoor can also be rather chilling -the dark moors, the cold wind, the isolation (not to mention the ponies!). That atmosphere of Dartmoor that has inspired Bafta winning filmmaker Peter Nicholson to set his film Dartmoor Killing on the famous South West moor.
We covered the pre-production of the psychological thriller back in 2013, and now it’s ready to take to the public arena following two extremely successful cast and crew screenings -one in the Devon, the other in London, and there is a core of exhibitors who want to screen the film.
There’s no official release date as yet, but the movie has a strong regional identity and sense of place so we’re hoping it will more than pepper the screens of the South West.
Plus the movie has drawn on plenty of South West talent. Two of the young cast are from Plymouth, and the movie’s closing credit track is from the debut album of Lustleigh‘s blues/soul singer Jo Harman.
While we’re waiting for release dates to be confirmed, take a moment to stir your excitement with the movie’s advance poster.
And here’s something else to keep you on the edge of your seats. The team are already planning their next South West feature, set around Plymouth and the South Devon coast, with the provisional title of Swilly Girl with shooting set to start in 2016.
