Exeter’s Two Short Nights film festival is set to roll with a massive array of short films created by local filmmakers, as well as those from around the world, plus a whole load of information and inspiration for filmmakers and those interested in film.
The festival includes short films specially commissioned for the event, and talk like How Not to Wreck Your Movie.
Jonas Hawkins, Digital media manager and founder of the Two Short Nights film festival at the Exeter Phoenix, said: “The Devon Short Film Commission allows us to identify and nurture the talent of emerging filmmakers in the area, often providing that first step towards developing a directorial style and providing important networks with the local filmmaking community.
“We have a great selection of films this year that demonstrate the rage of creativity and styles that can be ached with the short film format.
“The films selected from the International Open Submissions for this festival also expose the filmmakers and new audiences to inspirational and exploratory films from all over the world.”
This year Two Short Nights one of the key sponsors are Exeter-based film and marketing agency Colourburn.
Damo Cross, creative director at Colourburns said: “This is Colourburn’s second year sponsoring Two Short Nights.
“It’s a really fantastic short film festival which gives recognition to filmmakers from Devon and around the world.
“We really believed that Devon is becoming recognised as a hot spot for film production with outstanding local talent, stunning locations and good cider, of course.
“We want to let more people know about this amazing festival film. A lot of people think that all short films are abstract. They’re not. In fact some of ht best films I have ever seen have been at this festival and they were less than 15 minutes.”
At the event Colourburn will be showing a film made with kids of the Summer Film School 2014, –The Sqweakening -made in partnership with the Exeter Phoenix
Two Short Nights is at the Exeter Phoenix on December 11 and 12.
