Flirting, Sirens and Lawn Dogs (to name but three) director John Duigan has been linked to helm the teen surf story Bluer Than The Sky by Cornwall-based writer Lisa Glass.
Set to be shot in late 2015, largely in Newquay, the story follows a Cornish teenager who has a whirlwind romance with a famous pro surfer from Hawaii.
The novel, which went under the title Blue, was published by Quercus in June 2014, and is about the relationship between 16-year-old Newquay girl Iris Fox and a famous young pro-surfer called Zeke Francis.
The film deal was announced in September, 2014.
London-based producer Leighton Lloyd, who made the announcement said: ‘I’m incredibly excited to be bringing this film from hardback to the silver screen.
“I’m sure audiences will fall in love with Iris whom has a heart of gold as we follow her heartbreaks and triumphs.’
Devon-based author Luisa Plaja spoke to Lisa about Blue on our PRSD site. And you can read about Lisa’s first novel, Prince Rupert’s Teardrop in our archive.
