The South Devon Players, a non-profit, community theatre company based in Torbay, South Devon, are breaking into the internet film scene in style, and are looking for new people to get involved in the project.
The South Devon Players specialise in period dramas, classics and legends and had a smash hit success of their own non-musical drama show of Les Miserables in 2013.
The ended up attracting sponsorship from London for a second run, after a London-based producer was so impressed with the production.
Now, after months of planning and deliberation, the South Devon Players are beginning an internet film series of Les Miserables.
A crowdfunded project is expected to take around three years.
The series will be as faithful as is feasible to Victor Hugo’s original novel of Les Miserables, and will be filmed largely in Devon and Cornwall -although a few forays to France are expected as well.
The South Devon Players have held one round of auditions, in their home area of Torbay, but are still seeking more cast to fill all named roles.
Open auditions will be held in Plymouth, at the Theatre Royal’s TR2 training centre, at Neptune Business Park, Cattedown, Plymouth, on Saturday, November 15, 3-6pm.
Anyone interested in auditioning, should contact the South Devon Players for audition pieces and details in advance on their project email firstname.lastname@example.org
