You can help turn Hollywood dreams into a nightmare. The short film Help! I’m Trapped in a Movie is looking for some crowdfunding to help turn Hollywood dreams into a waking nightmare -that’s the premise of the short -which we reckon will ironically fuel the filmmakers’ own Hollywood dreams!
The story follows everyman Tom, who wakes to find himself in a movie. With just a Filmmaking For Dumb-Dumbs book and new ‘best friend’ Russell to guide him, Tom stumbles through genres into a rom-com mission with Laura The Lovely Librarian to end the film and release him.
Help! I’m Trapped in a Movie is from actor, writer and first-time director Riley Madincea (who’s Tom). And stars Emily Tucker (as Laura The Lovely Librarian), Chris Huntly-Turner (as Russell), and Vanessa Bailey (as Nancy). You can check out where you may have seen these people before on the Help! I’m Trapped In A Movie kickstarter page.
‘The film will be a slick, sexy, relentless chuckle fest. It takes a lot of the conventions and tropes we’ve come to expect as a modern movie-going audience, and wrings the comedy out of them by putting our own Alice (Tom) in Wonderland (a Hollywood movie),’ says the film’s site.
Producer Matt Day says: “This film is for lovers of film everywhere. We want to take it to as many festivals as possible, to as many people as possible. We think we have a really funny and unique film on our hands that people will LOL if not ROFL over. The film is a celebration of film, and we want to party all night.”
The Help! I’m Trapped in a Move team have put together a number of packages for backers -and you can help out for as little as £1. But if you can afford a bit more you can enjoy getting your own custom-made version of Help! I’m Trapped in a Movie, for example. Other perks and packages includes a visit to the set, merchandise packages and dinner with the director, and there are many more on offer at the kickstarter page.
