Hold onto your hats or better yet, your whole head! Ichabod Crane is back and in the 21st century to yet again save the world from the headless horseman.
The traditional tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, penned by Washington Irving in the 1820s, has had some magic cast over it to return as Sleepy Hollow, a thrashing adventure in a modern-day setting.
Sleepy Hollow is a new series which comes to life on the Universal Channel at 9pm on Wednesday, October 9.
All we know is that Ichabod has been resurrected after 250 years to continue his battle with his headless nemesis. And just as old Ike is coming to terms with the new world, so too is the headless fella, who is apparently quite adept at picking up on the potential of new weaponry.
Will the Sleepy Hollow TV series have the charm of the original story? We’re guessing probably not. But then again, it can be quite fun to trade in charm for timeless battles of good and evil, spiced up with dark magic and big fights.
Also, we’re suspecting a healthy dollop of time-related paranoia -school teacher Ichabod always seemed a bit flighty at the best of times! Add to the the opportunity for some time-based humour, and you’re well away.
