Borley Rectory laid claim to be the most haunted house in England, and, as you would expect, is ripe for an interpretation by one of British horror’s freshest voices.
Filmmaker Ashley Thorpe had hoped that 2012 would see the production of his take on the Borley Rectory story. He had recorded a voiceover with Julian Sands at the end of 2011, and production funding was in place, and all was ready to go.
But as is often the case, funding priorities changed, and there was a gap that slowed the production down. Rather than keep the movie on the permanent back-burner, the tenacious Ashley shifted gear and now plans to go down the crowd-funding route to get the film made.
Ashley says: “The fundraiser itself will be not just a breakdown of the production but something of a study of British ghosts with contributions from a variety of authorities on the subject.
“And what’s more we’ve been approached by someone very special to work on the soundtrack. Very exciting.”
As the teaser trailer says, this summer help Carrion Films raise a few ghosts. You’ll be in good company, Borley Rectory features contributions by Julian Sands, Stephen Volk, Steve Severin and many more.
While we’re waiting for the crowd-funding project to kick-off for real, here’s the teaser trailer, so you can squirrel away your funds to be part of the Borley Rectory movie, ready to help continue the reinvigoration of the British Ghost story.
