PUNY GODS! is a free pop-up film festival in Exeter, Devon. We are taking over a dead shop and turning it into a cinema and using it to showcase the best of Devon independent filmmaking.
It takes place this weekend in Exeter March 22-24 You will be able to see the breadth and depth of Devon’s filmmaking talent from the high-budget crowd funding success of the The Underwater Realm to the Channel 4-aired documentary Ray: A Life Underwater to the Bafta award-winning Paper Hearts.
PUNY GODS will play everything from video art to animation, fiction to documentary, music videos to adverts. Devon’s filmmaking scene is hugely prolific and is on the rise. Channel 4 and Shooting People recently came to the city as only one of four locations outside of London to hunt for new talent.
The event is curated by David Salas, filmmaker in residence at The Exeter Phoenix and himself an internationally award-winning filmmaker, and will introduce the city to the beauty of short filmmaking in a Guerrilla pop up environment more akin to a live music event than a traditional cinema.
The event is part of Exeter Open Studios and will help raise money for Newborns Vietnam.
