Three hundred and seventy years ago on this very day -11th October 11 -Mary Whyddon met her tragic end. Her story has passed into folklore. In 11 days’ time the Chagford Filmmaking Goup begin shooting its eighth film: The Ballad of Mary Whyddon.
The group’s Elizabeth-Jane Baldry said: “My tiny cottage is starting to burst at the seams with fairytale things -bones and spinning wheels, bird cages and cauldrons. Our wonderful volunteers are all beavering away creating the magic and the costumes.
“Poor Mary’s ghost is still sometimes seen. Will she make an appearance during the shoot?”
Only time will tell and we’ll let you know if she does, along with any other news from the group.
