Rich Mulryne and Tim Connell -two Falmouth MA Television Production graduates -will be taking their nine minute chiller, Not Before Me to the Cannes Film Festival.
Written and directed by Rich and with photography direction from Tim,the short film was produced while they were studying at Falmouth, the crew also includes further Falmouth graduates from BA (Hons) Broadcasting, BA (Hons) Music and the MA Broadcast Journalism courses, as well as a professional actress from London.
Well aware of the need to create a buzz about their film they are working hard on gaining sponsorship, producing marketing material and making all the right introductions.
Tim and Rich have begged camping equipment from Tim’s father who works at Sabre Sales the Army Surplus Store in Portsmouth, borrowed film equipment from UCF and have stolen the hearts of a myriad of sponsors who between them will feed, clean and clothe the pair.
In addition they have made the decision to film their time travelling and at Cannes as a road trip documentary that they hope will premier at this year’s Cornwall Film Festival.
Not Before Me introduces the characters Brian and Louise. As a a regular couple flirting with each other on a social network, the film begins innocently. However, complications arise when an uninvited visitor interrupts them and they soon find out, that two’s company -but three is just plain nasty.
Both Rich and Tim have a strong commitment to Cornwall and the film industry within it. The film was shot at the BF Adventure Centre in Penryn and in an empty house in the county.
In addition many of the team are Cornish and Rich and Tim wish build on their time at the college so that they have a viable enterprise that makes the most of local talent, businesses and the Cornish cultural identity.
Both are keen to fly the flag for Cornwall at Cannes.
