There’s something about the laid-back vibe of Croyde’s Deckchair Cinema that’s just perfect for a more relaxed viewing of films, and the haven of locally-made surf films is also available for those multi-award winning blockbusters, but only for those who want to chill with the thrill, so to speak.
The last blockbuster to be shown at the cinema, before thye devote themselves to an August of surf films, is Slumdog Millionaire, at Friday, July 10 at 8pm.
“It won so many awards, but it wasn’t on in Barnstaple for very long, so I don’t think many people have seen it,” said Chris Burrows at the cinema.
They’ve had Grease and Mama Mia -perfect for the 50 deckchairs (including double love deckchairs) and 100 or so red cushions, which are arranged ‘cabaret style’.
In September and throughout the autumn and winter the cinema will be showing more of the blockbusters, but for summer, it’s all surf films, in the relaxed, deckchair cinema.
