The University of Exeter’s student television station, XTV, has scooped four first place titles at the National Student Television Awards.
The students won best comedy for The Adam and Laurie Show, best drama for Finals, best factual for Cameo’s coverage of the 52nd BFI London Film Festival, and best video to music with You and Me.
Student Rich Jones was also highly commended as best on-screen male. The television station’s success is the biggest in its history, and as a result XTV is now ranked second in the country.
The ceremony was held at the University of Southampton and was attended by more than 15 national student television stations.
The judging panel included James Laidler, a producer for BBC Breakfast, and Justin Judd of Granada.
Laurie Blake, former XTV station manager and a third-year English student, told thisisexeter: “This has been XTV’s best year ever. We are so proud of our members’ hard work and dedication over the past year especially as we have so few facilities and no formal training.
“Exeter is lucky to have such committed and talented students who make our media among the best in country. This has been the making of my university experience.”
