It’s that bursary time the year, with the deadline for the Exeter Phoenix and Media Centre Galleries digital media bursary rearing its head on February 28.
The aim of the bursary, so they say, is “to develop digital media production skills and to encourage local practice in creative digital arts that use or subvert new technologies and achieve trans-disciplinary practice between art, science and technology.
“Ideas can be interactive, generative, visual, sonic, site-specific, installation based, web-based, DVD, PDA or mobile phone based, although this list is in no way exhaustive.”
If successful, you’ll pick up £750 cash towards training, materials and other production costs, plus in-kind support from Exeter Phoenix Media Centre and Galleries and use of facilities. But in order to get your mitts on all those goodies you’ll need to reside in the South West (of England, dummy) and be prepared to produce the finished work within six months of the original submission (where you will or not may be another matter).
