Poll position (video)
We’ve been a bit mean about Twofour in the past, taking the mick out of its Princess Di and David Beckham based fare.
But we tease because we care, and grudgingly have to admit Twofour do a pretty good job of balancing the crud with the more high-brow stuff. A bit like D+CFilm really…
Anyway, the Plymouth-based broadcaster’s recent ascension into the top 20 of the National Production 100 list is only to be applauded.
Even better, the Televisual magazine survey also ranked Twofour third in the ‘peer poll’ – admired by rival independent producers for ‘building a big successful business from a genuinely regional base’ and for their ‘multi-platform content and ground breaking shows’.
All of this means that Twofour is probably the country’s largest TV company outside of London. Not too shabby.
Twofour currently has more than 200 hours of programming in production. Open Gardens goes out on BBC2 on weekdays at 3.15pm, The Hotel Inspector is on Thursdays at 9pm on Five, Dirty Cows continues on Living on Wednesdays and Are You Smarter Than A Ten Year Old? is on Sky One from next month.
We can’t say we have seen, or are planning to see, any of these programmes any time soon, but hey, they must be doing something right, yeah?
Let’s have a look at what we’re missing. Click below to watch a short clip from The Hotel Inspector – especially if you hate wardrobes too.
