News is just starting to reach D+CFilm about what this year’s Animated Exeter shindig will have to offer.
First up, is the multimedia extravaganza Futureshock. The Centre For Contemporary Art And The Natural World (that’s CCANW ‘for short’), in collaboration with Halloween and animate!, has invited cooler-than-thou electronic star Zan Lyons to provide a live soundtrack to Mamoru Oshii’s animated 2004 classic Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (see below to watch
the trailer).
Oshii’s contribution to the Japanese Manga genre offers a thought-provoking and visually stunning vision of a society far removed from nature and humanity. A bit like Totnes then.
London-based violinist and programmer Lyons has been described as ‘the future of music’ and is credited with single-handedly creating neo-classical electronica, which is nice of him, ain’t it?
Also screening will be a special selection of ground-breaking shorts from the animate! project – including Will Latham’s Biogenesis and Interstellar Stella by AL + AL.
The event which will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the Animated Exeter 2007 season, will take place on February 23 in the beautiful and intimate setting of CCANW’s Project Space in Haldon Forest Park. Booking is essential on info@ccanw.co.uk.
