Fledgling filmmakers supported by a Devon bursary scheme will be among those showcasing their work during the Two Short Nights film festival in Exeter on Friday night.
Every year the Phoenix Media Centre awards six short film bursaries for up-and-coming filmmakers based in Devon, encouraging emerging talent in the creative digital arts.
This year’s bursary screening includes a sneak preview of The Crinoline and The Rose by Emma Kempton, which will be premiered in February next year at the London Fashion Show.
This is Emma’s first film, and it combines two aspects of her life, as she ‘explained’ to bbc.co.uk: “I’m launching a fashion collection and the film features that, but it’s a film in its own right.
“I travelled with the theatre and circus for 10 years, and the film is about a clown who leaves the circus to look for magic.
“These are the things I know about so that’s what I’ve done the film on.
“It’s a silent film and it’s surreal but there is a narrative.”
Good old BBC, eh? What a probing interview. Perhaps next time, Emma should talk to D+CFilm.
