Ashley Wing and Clayton Fussell have put out a call for cast and a make-up artist for their next project. Ashley Thorpe’s Scayrecrow is making a continental journey with a visit to Cannes’ Short Film Corner in this year’s Festival de Cannes. Hot on the heels of his Best Film win in the FXhome awards, Ashley Wing has completed his latest film, a three-minute short called OMG about how our lives are controlled by mobile phones. “British horror revival begins here in the South West,” said Ashley Thorpe as he picked up the media innovations award for independent film, and he should know – he’s picking up awards, and plaudits, and favourable reviews wherever he goes. Exeter-born Watchmen start Matthew Goode has been doing the promotional rounds lately. And after reading Conor Nolan’s exclusive with the rising star, we thought we’d have one of our own. Alex White’s short film In the Garden of Terrible Delights was premiered Kinky and Quirky’s burlesque Valentine’s Day bash in Exeter, on… er… Valentine’s Day. To celebrate with our own hunk of love, we thought we’d take a gander at some of Alex’s experiences making his first film, Deadly Illusions. Take it away Alex Author Anne Perry, whose real life story inspired the film Heavenly Creatures, will be in Torbay on April 4 for the Torbay Festival of Crime Writers, Sleuths! The day kicks off with a lecture about the Berlinale Co-Production market. Described as a facility for putting together financiers and filmmakers, this is something that you apply for before the festival and it sets up two days of meetings about your project. Ashley Thorpe will take us by the hand and lead us through his top five horror films over the next five days.
