Fantastic well written review Sean. We're so lucky here in Devon to have such great locations for shoots. I've yet to see War Horse, but have seen the trailer several times and the Dartmoor scenes do look incredibly atmospheric. And to think, Paignton followed the London world premier - bring it on!

I couldn't agree more, Ashley. Personally, if it's a choice between seeing this or Seann William Scott in 'Goon' - the ice hockey film - I know which one I'll be picking.

Yes...I wonder how many sympathetic workers we get to see to counterpoint her 'rise to power' - the unemployed dockworker, the striking miner driven by desperation...this film is begging for a V for Vendetta mash-up.

I must say I hadn't realised the set was so large.

Hi Sean. Thanks for checking out the website. I have been writing on and off for a few years, when I get the chance. Check out Low Tides on PRSD if you get the chance! Hmmm, favourite ghost story? I don't think I could name one, so will list a few: Algernon Blackwood's 'The Willows' (although it may not strictly be a ghost story, but its atmospheres are the same); Fritz Leiber's 'Smoke Ghost'; 'Pigeons from Hell' by Robert E. Howard; and almost anything by MR James, Ramsey Campbell, Steve Rasnic Tem and Adam L.G. Nevill!

Hi Mathew, thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I always like to give a shoutout to underdog films that are overlooked and/or underrated - The Changeling and Session 9 are cases in point I think. Excellent shoutout to Devil's Backbone as well, I'm kicking myself that I didn't include that, seeing as it's probably my favourite Del Toro film. Thanks for the update on those books - they might make good Christmas pressies! I had a look at your brilliant website myself - how long have you been doing that? Do you have a particular favourite ghost story yourself?

Excellent list. The Changeling and The Shining are my especial favourites, and nice to see the cult Session 9 in there too. The Devil's Backbone is another amazingly atmospheric movie. If you like haunted houses on the printed page there's a wonderful new anthology just out called 'The House of Fear'. Plus I heartedly recommend Adam Nevill's 'Apartment 16' novel.

I'm going to be honest I would cut this film down, cut out the bits of me looking at camera, some of the ending as i feel it does go on to long to be honest. But good attempt well done JT. Kirsty Symonds
