A replica of the titular maze in The Maze Runner is due to be created entirely out of chocolate fingers and built to the actual size of the model featured in the film to celebrate the film’s DVD and Blu-ray release.
All this will take place in Gloucestershire and we’re hoping it will be accompanied by a big cup of tea.
Renowned Gloucester-based foodscape artist Prudence Staite will be doing the building and The Maze Runner superfan and vlogger Doug Armstrong will be on hand to record the event and maybe even get his fingers on the fingers.
‘The Maze Runner,’ says the non-cocoa beaned blurb, ‘is a heart-pounding survival thriller based on the beloved franchise, Thomas wakes up trapped in a massive, ever-changing maze with a group of boys who have no memory of the outside world.
‘Facing dangerous obstacles at every turn, Thomas and the others must race to piece together clues in order to discover their true purpose…and find a way out before it’s too late!

‘Starring a powerful cast of young British actors including Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually), Kaya Scodelario (Skins, Moon), and Will Poulter (We’re the Millers), The Maze Runner sees the heroic youngsters work together to navigate the terrifying maze and discover their true purpose in a race for survival.’
Now, if that maze had been made out of chocolate fingers it would have been a very different kind of angst-ridden flick.
Doug said: “I’m a huge fan of The Maze Runner and a massive foodie, so I can’t wait to finish making this fantastic, intricate chocolate maze just like the one on the Blu-ray and DVD. I think it’s going to turn out super tasty and will make for an amazing video!”
Prudence who sculpts with chocolate and food to make edible art said: “Doug is going to be a great help in putting together this replica maze for The Maze Runner DVD & Blu-ray release, which mimics dimensions of the model in the film. The process is going to take a whole week of hard graft at my studio in Gloucestershire and I’m looking forward to it!.”
Of course, you could always fashion your own chocolate finger maze for The Maze Runner, or for a healthy option, how about using runner beans?
The Maze Runner is out on February 2, 2015 on Digital HD and 9 February on Blu-ray and DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
