Devon filmmakers have a chance to close the Exeter Riddles project – part of Animated Exeter – and bag £100.
This exciting prospect for Devon filmmakers is courtesy of an Exeter Phoenix, Exeter City Council and Animated Exeter combo.
The AV director of The Exeter Riddles Finale is looking for individuals or teams to create a 3 – 4 minute video, which can be used as part of the AV section of closing event.
Videos must be based around the themes of ancient/futuristic.
Selected films will be eligible for prizes of £100 and will have the opportunity to have their work exhibited as part of the festival.
You’re going to have to take a look at the competition brief, but to set this scene, here’s some info about the Exeter Riddles Finale.
“The Exeter Riddles Finale is the closing event of Animated Exeter Festival 2013 and is inspired by a short story, written especially for Animated Exeter 2013 by Philip Reeve. The finale is centred around a mythical, ancient entity, ‘The Heartstone’, which has been malfunctioning and leaking history into the present causing chaos across Exeter. WW2 soldiers, Romans and cavemen are appearing all over the city and in order to stop this the Heartstone must be calmed.
“The Finale will take place in Belmont Park, where a stage will be erected. The stage will comprise of a screen and an area for a large prop representing The Heartstone. The Heartstone will be mapped for video projection.
“The climax to The Exeter Riddles Finale will be the Audio Visual show, which will consist of a dramatic VJ electro club style piece, set to an original soundtrack and using original visuals and video graphics.
“The AV show will be preceded by a barrage of characters from the story who will introduce that they have finally found The Heartstone and that in order to stop history leaking it can only be appeased by the Goddess Sidwella.”
