The first film screening and networking event organised by Cottage Industry Films for D+CFilms was a rip-roaring success, with the next event already in the pipeline.
The Black Box at the Exeter Phoenix Digtial Media Centre was filled with filmmakers from the region along with those who were keen to see the hottest talent around at CINE (Cottage Industry Networking Event).
As well as getting a chance to see the movies, there was an informal Q&A with the filmmakers and a chance for people to network, get to know each other and share knowledge and experience.
Filmmaker Ashley Wing of Cottage Industry Films told D+CFilm: “It was great to see people get together and talk about films and their ideas, and I think it’ll be interesting seeing them develop their skills over time as well as strike up new-found collaborations.”
The event was also a fundraiser for D+CFilm, with the money raised going towards supporting and promoting filmmakers in the region.
The films were: The Hairy Hands, by Ashley Thorpe, John Tomkins: A Creative Journey by Darren Jones, Abridged by Martin Lejeune, The Garden of Terrible Delights by Alex White, Nenikekamen (We are victorious) by Realm Pictures, Burn by Patrick Kiely, Embrace Life by Dan Cox and Simon Le Boggit’s Bombastic Mind by Mental Health.

(If you have a film you would like to screen at CINE email cine@cottageindustryfilms.co.uk with a brief synopsis (up to 50 words) of the film/project, along with any other relevant information, including a still from the film – films can be of any genre, but no longer than 15 minutes.)

Good fun, well organised and a great opportunity for filmmakers to network. I can whole heartedly recommend it…
