Exeter Polish Film Festival kicks off with The Runaway on March 10

The Exeter Polish Film Festival – Kinoteka on Tour, a satellite event of the the Polish Cultural Institute project Kinoteka, is a rare opportunity to see some of the best Polish movies in Exeter between Wednesday, March 10 and Saturday, May 15.

The festival opens on Wednesday, March 10 with the documentary The Runaway by Marek Pawłowski. The film is narrated by Kazimierz Piechowski, the last living fugitive, and organiser of the most spectacular escape from Auschwitz. The screening will be followed by discussion with the director and producer.

There are also plans to present a short fragment of the documentary Kazik and the Kommander’s Car by Katy Carr and Hannah Lovell.

March and May will see a line up of films such as Zero, Little Moscow, My Flesh, My Blood, or Poland’s submission for 2010 Academy Awards, The Reverse, as well as some older and classic titles, including The Debt and Oscar nominated Promised Land.

Exeter Central Library and Boston Tea Party will show the classic Polish Film exhibition featuring artefacts from the Exeter University’s Bill Douglas Centre for the History of Cinema and Popular Culture as well as posters designed by artists of the Polish School of Poster Design.
