Young filmmakers in Devon and Torbay could win £1,000 in a competition to make a film about prejudice and extremism
The Community Cohesion Film Project, as it is called, is intended for 16- 25 year olds to explore issues around prejudice, extremism and active citizenship.
The competition is open to students aged between 16 and 25 studying at a 6th Form, College of Further Education or the University of Exeter.
It is also open to any young person between the ages of 16 and 25 who is a member of a youth group. All educational establishments and youth groups must based within the county of Devon or Torbay (excluding Plymouth).
You’re task is to make a short film that focuses on prejudice or extremism. It could explore how prejudices develop; look at the impact that prejudice or extremism can have – on victims, on their families and on the whole community; or show what your school/college/group is doing to combat prejudice and extremism.
The film can use live action, animation or a mixture of both.
The prize pot includes £1,000 for the overall competition winners, with prizes in both categories of £500 for the first prize, £300 for second and £200 for third. And the winning films will also be included in a programme of various media and publicity initiatives throughout Devon and Torbay.
The deadline for your films is Friday, May 28.
