The Cornwall Film Festival has come up with six (just six!) reason to go to the Cornwall Film Festival, which starts on Friday, November 13. If you can think of any more, let us know!
Here are the Cornwall Film Festival’s six:
1. Cornish-made shorts, features, documentaries and dance films by filmmakers and students from across the county. Two juried competitions plus Cornish-produced documentary Diary of a Disgraced Soldier (NOTE: 6:15pm screening sold out; extra screening now available at 3:30pm) and Samantha Price’s production of Bad Company.
2. Reel Cornwall. Footage from the BFI archives dating back to 1904, including promotional films from Holmans of Camborne and the Great Western Railway.
3. A special screening of the climate-change blockbuster The Age of Stupid, followed by a panel discussion led by Mark Paterson of the Eden Project. Special guest: TAOS cast member and wind farm developer Piers Guy.
4. Premieres of feature films weeks or months before they’re released in the UK, including Disgrace, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Glorious 39.
5. Insights into The Men Who Stare at Goats and Other True Tales of Everyday Craziness – book and film – with special guest, author and journalist Jon Ronson.
6. Murray Lachlan Young, performance poet and BBC Radio broadcaster, will host this year’s Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 15, beginning at 8:45pm, at UCF Woodlane Lecture Theatre.
