A visionary UK-based filmmaker Fangoria's Chris Alexander on Ashley Thorpe

Ashley Thorpe has been described as a “visionary UK-based filmmaker”, by Fangoria’s very own Chris Alexander. On top of this, two of Ashley’s films – Scayrecrow and The Screaming Skull – have been nominated for Best Animation at this year’s Horror UK festival.

In the second interview with Ashley on the Fangoria site, Chris said Ashley was “an artist whose carefully controlled, creepy and rapturously gothic short films Scayrecrow and The Screaming Skull (which screened at this years NYC Fango Con) really left an impression on me”.

Seems fair enough to us, and it’s fascinating reading.

The Hairy Hands is set for completion for Halloween, and will be screened during the Two Short Nights film festival at the Exeter Phoenix, Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28.

The Horror UK film festival, billed as 28 Hours Later, shows a large number of films all in one go. “Think of us as the longest horror marathon that you have ever attended,” they say.
