Andrew Oxley and David Williams’ Making The Difference shortlisted for national Virgin Media awards

Making The Difference

A documentary created through Exeter Phoenix’s short film bursary scheme has been shortlisted for the prestigious Virgin Media Shorts awards.

Andrew Oxley and David Williams’ flick, titled Making The Difference, is one of the twelve finalists selected from 2,000 entries by a judging panel including Hollywood actor/director Kevin Spacey.

It will be shown in 214 cinemas nationwide for a year and will appear on TV, online and on mobile internet.

In September, the final winner will be announced and Spacey will present them with their wife’s head in a box (not strictly true).

Making The Difference is a short documentary which features people discussing their love of tea (the drink – not the posh word for dinner).

The film won the 2008 Phoenix Media Bursary Film award and 2008 Audience award at Exeter Phoenix’s annual Two Short Nights film festival.

Andrew Oxley is an independent filmmaker based in Exeter. He has collaborated with David Williams on a number of short documentaries celebrating notions of Englishness.

Their previous film, White English Men, has been screened at numerous short film festivals and has won several local and international awards.
