Tinside Lido is a wonderfully architectural place, and the perfect setting for a film night – three film nights, to be exact, run by Plymouth Arts Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday July, 17, 18, and 19.
The curator of the event is artist Tim Knowles, whose Wunderlust exhibition runs at the Plymouth gallery until the end of the month. And it all takes place in the amphitheratre of the lido pool, with the backdrop of Plymouth Sound.
Called Late Night Lido Endeavour, a selection of artists’ films show the filmmakers in challenging, potentially dangerous and unpredictable situations.
According to Plymouth Arts Centre: “In many cases the artists have devised a system or scenario that they must follow through. The approach is a poetic one of exploration, solitary striving and even escapism.”
Meanwhile, you can settle back with your picnic and the backdrop of Plymouth Sound.
Late Night Lido Endeavour opens at 9pm and the films begin at 9.30pm. Tickets are £3.95. Contact Plymouth Arts Centre for more details.
Artists’ films include: David Blandy, Chris Burden, Matt Calderwood, Simon Faithfull, Tim Knowles, Roman Signer, Guido van der Werve, John Wood and Paul Harrison.
