Meeting Watchmen star Matthew Goode (figuratively speaking)

Exeter-born Watchmen start Matthew Goode has been doing the promotional rounds lately. And after reading Conor Nolan’s exclusive with the rising star, we thought we’d have one of our own.

Granted, there’s a bit more meat on Conor’s piece in the Cornish paper, but our hunger wasn’t satisfied – so we’ve trawled around to bring you a few more offerings about the man who plays Ozymandias in the forthcoming film from Zack Snyder.

Here’s a few disjointed ideas into the character, just to get you in the mood.

But what about the film?

Here’s an exerpt from an interview on CHUD.com:

“Goode: I’m not saying I have a very intelligent set of friends, but, I suppose I do, but I don’t think it necessarily needs that huge amount of intelligence. We all discussed the politics and apathy and is it possible for a world to unite and religion, all that sort of thing. The only sort of answer is if we were attacked from another planet, if there was an outside force, then surely everything would have to come together; I thought that was a really interesting concept. With energy issues that we have now, it’s incredibly relevant, and I feel very proud that it was written by a Brit.”

Good on you, Matthew.

Devin Faraci, who conducted the filmed interview below, said, on the CHUD.com: “This interview is heavily filled with spoilers, so those who have never read the book beware. It’s also a little shaky; I’m filming these video interviews on my Flip Mini, which is palm sized. Hopefully my camera technique will improve in the future.” So be warned.

Or if you prefer, find out about Matthew’s accent choices with About.com at the Comic Con 2008 (we only hope it’s like René from ‘Allo, Allo)

Or there’s the interview with Billy Cruddup on the Tribute site.

And is Matthew looking forward to being an action figure, asked Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub on Collider?

“It’s all slightly embarrassing really, but the action figure is actually in one of the shots, I’ve been staring at it, staring at myself, and I have to say it’s incredibly life-like.”

Let’s draw a short veil over that one.

Here he is talking to the New York Times in an oddly New Yorkie kinda style (there’s a spoiler here too, and our earlier accent hopes are dashed – he’ll probably sound like Laurence Olivier in The Marathon Man, or was it Clash of the Titans?)

We’ll go back to Conor for the final word: “Next up for him is A Single Man, directed by fashion guru Tom Ford, starring Julianne Moore and Colin Firth, with whom Matthew gets to “suck face”, as he plays his long term lover.”

Cheers Conor
