Falling in Space from Dan Farberoff on Vimeo.

If the Christmas TV schedule is on your mind, you should spare some time for the Dan Farberoff’s Falling, which was screened as part of the View From Here and is on Channel 4 on Saturday December 27 at 3:30pm.
There’s some stunning images as Dan catches the elements of dancers moving weightlessly to the words of Canadian astronaut Steve MacLean. Dan and choreographer Henri Oguike “worked together to develop the choreography and camera work that would allow them to convey the loss of gravity, of perspective and of orientation; the uncertainty of direction; the loss of ground and the shifting sense of time whilst in space,” according to the Falling site.
The dancers involved, Laura Peña Nuñez and Nuno Campos, were dropped and crash-landed as they developed the trampline aerial skills to work very closely in what the website describes as ‘the eloquent moments of tenderness in the film’.
Find out more about Steve MacLean’s journals, which inspired the film on the Falling site.
