TORQUAY FRINGE FILM #1

The Torquay Fringe is taking place around the city-by-the-bay this month, and as well as some cracking art (check out the People’s Republic of South Devon for more on that), those funky foremen of the fringe found some films, too.
They will be shown at the Blue Walnut cafe, Chelston (get in touch with them for more details), and we had a word in the shell-like of the filmmakers themselves, to find out what makes them tick.
First up is Max Dolding, whose film work has developed from his painting.
Max told D+CFilm: “When I embarked on it, I had no idea it would lead to a deep fascination for the medium. I have no doubt the process of editing is embedding images into my mind that will emerge in alternative media.”
“I guess my real interest lies in people, crowds, and atmosphere – hence my love of the City of London and its many moods. However, in my Four Short Films I have tried in part to remind the viewer of some everyday things that we do when we are ‘somewhere else’.”
Catch the film at the Blue Walnut cafe.

Tomorrow: Paignton animator Michael Betts talks about his satirical animation about Iraq, which is part of Torquay Fringe.
