EAT YOUR SHORTS
Comedy is no laughing matter and the 2008 English Riviera International Comedy Film Festival (now there’s a witty title) is after your funny films for its Eat My Shorts film competition.
On offer as prizes are cash, flights and a quirky award, and with a deadline of September 15, you’ll be able to get your own blend of bitter-sweet farce over the summer, if you haven’t already got one in the can.
All you have to do is send your film, which has been made in the past 12 months, on a DVD in any regional format. If your comedy transcends cross-cultural boundaries and is in a language other than English, subtitles will be required. Films can be up to 30 minutes long, although they’d prefer them under 15 minutes long. And there are three age categories to enter, 16 and under, 17 to 21 and 22 and over.
According to the blurb, a “panel of industry and comedy experts will grab their popcorn and watch all of the entries, whittling the witty creations down to the very best. We will let you know if yours has been short listed for a screenings at the International Comedy Film Festival in September, so you can show off to all your family and friends.
“The winning films in each category will be announced at our all-star gala night being held at the Riviera International Centre - live from the glittering heart of the English Riviera on Sunday September, 28.”
