Happy-Go-Lucky in Penzance (video)

The latest film from one the giants of British cinema will get a gala preview in Penzance.

Happy-Go-Lucky, the most recent offering from walking film legend Mike Leigh, is set for a special screening, followed by a Q&A from producer Simon Channing Williams, no slouch himself, on April 16, at the Savoy Cinema, Penzance, 7pm.

Happy-Go-Lucky has already picked up a Silver Bear for lead actress Sally Hawkins at the Berlin International Film Festival.

And if it’s gongs your after, audiences will also have the opportunity to admire Simon’s Channing Williams’ collection of awards from his work on such films as The Constant Gardener and Secrets & Lies.

The event is co-hosted by the Cornwall Film Festival and Penwith Film Society.

“We’re really excited to have secured a preview of such a hotly anticipated film,” said Cornwall Film Festival director, Laura Hardman. “It’s a great chance for film-lovers in Cornwall to see what promises to be a truly brilliant film in advance of the general release.”

• Happy-Go-Lucky, 7pm, April 16, Savoy Cinema Penzance. Tickets are £7, or £4.50 for members of Penwith Film Society, and are available from the Savoy on 01736 363330.
