Paid work (video)

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Two male actors are being sought for, would believe a paying gig.

Tor, a group of young filmmakers, have the funding to produce as short film and are after two male actors, one aged between 14 and 17 and the other who can pass for 30 something – for a father and son-type relationship.

Plus, you get £50 for everyday you’re used on the shoot. Now, that’s not nothing to sniff at.

Auditions will be held at the Exeter Phoenix on April 7, or visit the ReelRoulette myspace for a bit more on the group, who were responsible for the Cafe Loop films. Have a gander at one of the Cafe Loops below. Check out ChewTV for more.

And for more details of the film email info@dandcfilm.co.uk, and we’ll put you in the right directon.

Intermission

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

intermission

You may have noticed a break in transmission of D+CFilm. It seems our enthusiasm to bring you all the very best in what’s going on in the world of film in Devon and Cornwall caused a bit of a meltdown. (Or there was a problem with the host’s linux-based servers).

Either way, we’ve changed host and will be keeping you all in the loop and up-to-date with one of the most creative and active filmmaking scenes in the country.

File pictures (video)

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Things are getting strange, we’re starting to worry… Yup, it appears we’re actually more excited about The X Files 2 (or, as IMDb would have it, Untitled X Files Sequel) than Indiana Jones And The Something Of The Something Skull.

Even though it stars Billy Connolly? Yes, even though it stars Billy Connolly. And we really hate Billy Connolly.

In case you’re wondering, we came to this ludicrous conclusion after watching the ‘whooping audience X Files 2 trailer’ (as we have dubbed it - see below) and seeing the pictures of Mulder and Scully snogging (click here to have a look).

We dunno about you but we wouldn’t touch Anderson with the proverbial barge pole after her antics with Danny ‘Appropriately Named’ Dyer in Straightheads but Spooky Mulder still seems to wanna get in there. After all, 15 years is a long time to wait for a smooch. Move on, man! Meet new people!

Oh well, we’re sure the tonsil hockey will end up having something to do with killer bees or summat, so we shouldn’t get too excited about it all. Still, it looks a lot more fun than a barrel chested Indy lumbering about, don’t it?

The X Files 2 is due out in the UK on August 1.

Muse flash

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

To celebrate the DVD release of Muse’s sell-out Wembley Stadium event last summer, Vue cinemas are offering fans the chance to relive the experience in high def and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound.

Puh, everyone knows you don’t record rock in Dobly…

Anyway, the gig, which took place last June and saw the Teignmouth combo play to over 150,000 fans, will be broadcast on Tuesday, March 11 at Vue in Exeter and Plymouth.

Expect to see most of the band’s recent hits including Knights of Cydonia, Super Massive Black Hole, and the actually-pretty-terrible Starlight.

Tickets are a snip at £10 so you’d better book early to avoid disappointment. Head over to the Vue website for details.

Driving ambition

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Plymouth’s ever busy Twofour have hooked up with the Driving Standards Agency to make a flick to show stupid teenagers how to drive proper. Innit.

Soberly titled Out Of Time, the film will form part of a new DVD for the Arrive Alive scheme.

Filming took place overnight on a road near Truro and involved a crew of 25 people, and a road lockdown including police and ambulance staff.

Shot on high def (for added, ahem, impact), the two minute film tells the story of four teens involved in a car crash down a dark country lane.

The driver loses control after fannying around with his CD changer or somesuch and drives into a tree killing his hapless passengers. Not one for Marc Bolan fans, then.
