Coral draw (video)

The snappily named Marine Conservation Society Plymouth Local Group is hosting a meeting tonight (that’s Thursday) at the Marine Biological Association on Plymouth Hoe.

Plymouth Uni’s Dr Jason Hall-Spencer will be talking about recent research in the Arctic and showing a buncha pictures of cold water corals.

Then Antony Jinman, of Polar Venture, will have a yap about his career, from joining the Royal Navy to leading his own expedition to the Penny Ice Cap on Baffin Island (wherever the hell that is). Will he have a few pics of cold water corals to show too? Who knows?

What he will have, however, is the Dutch documentary, Silent Snow, which highlights the dilemma facing Inuit families as they become victims of climate change and pollution.

The meeting is free to Local Group members and MBA members, and £2 for everyone else.

The fun (and cold water corals) kicks off at 7pm. Click here for more details. Click below to watch the Silent Snow trailer. No, we’re not sure what’s so special about ’silent snow’ either. ‘Incredibly loud snow’ - now, that’d be noteworthy. Anyway…
