Sand by me (video)

Tiverton Film Club’s next screening is the acclaimed Israeli/Palestinian drama Atash. It’s being shown tomorrow (February 27) at the New Hall, Barrington Street. Click below to watch the trailer.

Directed by Abu Wael, who Sight & Sound described as ‘the most exciting
Arab filmmaker in more than a decade’, it tells the tale of a father who
maroons his family in the desert after he feels his daughter has shamed them. Bit harsh, that.

Other treats in store over the coming months are I Is For India on March 19, Infamous on April 16 and classic Ealing comedy The Ladykillers on May 21.

Doors for each screening open at 6.30pm and the movie starts at 7.30pm. New members are more than welcome (whatever than means) - for more details about the club, check out their lovely new website. Joining rates have been halved, so that full individual membership which gives free access to the remaining films is £14 and membership for couples is £22.50.
