Getting sketchy

There’s been a lot of yap recently about the Cornish film industry - and one company investing heavily in its future is SketchWork Productions.

Based in Truro, SketchWork can film corporate videos, aerial shots or even an all action car chase just for you.

Justin Heasman, managing director of SketchWork, told D+CFilm: “To produce the best films you need the best equipment, so we went to the heart of the film industry in LA to buy our new kit.”

Justin and his co-director Matt Dymond have just bought a load of new equipment, including a crane that can film from heights of over 20 feet, a camera stabiliser for smooth action shots and a dolly and track. And to transport all their new kit, the two Newquay boys have bought a van to take them to and from film sites.

Matt said: “We cut our teeth in corporate videos and recently won some local film and documentary projects which has allowed us to buy the latest state of the art equipment and we believe to become the first company south of Bristol to have it.”

Another new addition to the SketchWork arsenal are large speaker stacks which can be used for events and conferences for up to 2,000 people.

Basically, the combined package really brings the Hollywood touch to the South West as SketchWork can set up complete movie sets, run music or film events and provide film, sound and lighting for full blown conferences in all but the largest venues.
