What’s better than getting a celebrity to say they like your film festival?
Clue: Getting a celebrity to say they like your film festival ten times.

Yes, that’s the approach taken by the lovely folk at Motion Plymouth (we used to spell it as one word, but now we’re using two), who’ve enlisted kooky Red Or Dead design don Wayne ‘Wayne’ Hemmingway to record a video bigging up the event.

Wayne was apparently asked to appear as guest of honour at the Motion Plymouth’s Movie Star Reception next month, but in true celebrity style, he sent a video clip in his place.

Motion Plymouth co-director Katie Thompson told D+CFilm: “Wayne is a completely off-the-wall and leftfield kind of person, so we believe this makes him the perfect associate for Motion Plymouth.

“We sent him an invite, but he couldn’t make the date of the reception. But what we have now is a very amusing video clip from him.

“Wayne is an inspiration to us. We saw him speak at an event in the TR2 building a few years ago, and people are still talking about it now. He’s definitely the sort of person we want to hang around with.”
