Fifty years ago, Hammer Films released their first horror movie, The Curse of Frankenstein, beginning a series of flicks which changed the face of cinema.

There’s a special advance screening of Elizabeth: The Golden Age at Exeter Picturehouse tomorrow night (that’ll be Thursday, then).
The film starts at 7.30pm and will be followed by one of those live satellite Q&A thingies, featuring star Geoffrey Rush and director Shekhar Kapur.

As this years Motion Plymouth festival gets ever nearer, we’ve been talking to MP co-director Katie Thompson about the event’s swanky awards ceremony.

A free Saturday Cinema Club takes place in St Budeaux parish church hall, in Plymouth, on the first Saturday of every month.
The next one takes place on November 3 and runs from 10am to 2pm. Kids aged five to 11 are welcome, while parents can mooch about in the lower hall, guzzling coffee and yapping.

The long-awaited sequel to the hit anime feature, Karas: The Prophecy is out on DVD this week through Manga Entertainment.
